Technology Classes

Computer Science

Students learn the fundamentals of programming, logic, and problem-solving. Classes include Computer Science 1 (One Semester): Intro to programming in Python. Computer Science 2 (One semester): Game design using Python and Pygame. Advanced Placement Computer Science A (One year): Advanced OOP topics in Java, students take AP CS A test in spring

Robotics

Dive deeper into engineering and programming. Students design, build, and code robots to complete complex autonomous and driver-controlled tasks. Classes include Robotics 1 (One Semester): Students learn the basics of robotics building Lego Robots. Robotics 2 (One semester): Students go beyond basics and build FTC style robots using REV and GoBILDA kits and programming in Java. Robotics 3 & 4 (One semester each): Students expand into autonomous, sesnors, and beyond by designing and programming robots to meet current FTC challenges.

Web Development

Students learn the fundamentals of web design using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. This course teaches the code behind the webpage.

Drone Certification

Students learn how to fly drones safely and within the law. Students also study for and take the FAA Part 107 Drone Test

FTC Robotics Club

The Powell High School FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team is an after-school club where students design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in head-to-head challenges.

We focus on STEM skills, teamwork, and gracious professionalism. Join us to learn CAD, Java programming, electrical wiring, and mechanical engineering and just to have some fun!

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. This a club, we welcome everyone! Come and check out what we are doing!!
